My Story

I have grown up in the church my whole life, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I learned the difference between knowing about God and walking in a relationship with God. During that time, if anyone had asked me if I was a Christ follower, I would have said yes, and with all the knowledge I had, they were probably convinced by the end of the conversation. I didn’t realize the difference between knowledge, which we can gather on our own, and understanding, which comes through the power of the Holy Spirit. I believed that every word of the Bible, but for some reason, it never seemed to fit my life or be true for me. No matter how hard I tried, I could never be “good enough” to obtain the blessings and unconditional love promised throughout scripture. They always seemed out of reach, but God, who is rich in mercy, grace, and compassion, reached down and saved me from myself. I had no idea that I was walking in darkness, unaware of what walking in the light of Christ truly looks like, what it truly means to be saved through faith by grace and not through works. In response to the wonderful gift of freedom, redemption, and salvation granted to me by Christ, I hope to speak to those who are also lost in the same trap I was. Many are called to those who have no knowledge of Christ, but I believe my mission field is inside the church; to those who have memorized scripture, who attend church on Sunday, and those who serve as volunteers or maybe even as church staff. Those who are currently where I was not so long ago, full of knowledge, but lacking understanding and relationship. I want to tell you about the goodness of God and how walking in relationship with Him can truly transform your heart and life. All those scriptures that you believed to be true but never seem to apply to your life are, in fact, meant for you. The love and faithfulness of God that you’ve seen displayed in the lives of others, but you never seem to be able to be “good enough” to secure for yourselves, is yours to have. God delights in showing mercy (Micah 7:18). He wants you as His own. I invite you on a journey with me to take another look at scripture. Scripture that you most likely are familiar with, but this time I ask you to let it penetrate your heart, transform your worldview, and shape your daily life. I promise it’s worth it. Take it from the girl who would have labeled herself the queen of anxiety, but now walks in peace through the chaos. The girl who needed to control everything is now perfectly content taking the passenger seat of life with Jesus at the wheel.
